Do Something — Day 5
// June 21st, 2012 // Events
God blessed us with another amazing day!!! When everyone woke up, the sun was shining, and the Son was shining. We enjoyed breakfast burritos for our morning fiesta, and then headed outside for devotions to continue reading Romans 8. The morning was spent finishing our various projects from the week.
After lunch we set up our free car wash in the parking lot of the thrift store on Rum River Drive. Carwash! Workin’ at the carwash, Yeah! It was a tremendous success. We were given the opportunity to serve over forty drivers this afternoon, and have a little fun splashing in the water as we did so. The weather was absolutely fantastic, which added to the blessing.
After closing up shop, we once again enjoyed showers, and were served a tasty supper! Some of the men of the congregation grilled up burgers with all the fixings. Thanks again for serving us as we serve the community!
The earlier portion of the evening was spent in a session discussing the supposed contradictions of the Bible. We went through some passages of scripture together, identified the “contradictions,” and debunked them. The youth were also given newspaper articles to examine from a Biblical world view. They worked in groups to look at these articles and report their findings to the whole group. The campfire message was led by Brian and Jennie, who discussed the importance of yielding to God. Thanks be to God for guiding us and watching over us, and thanks to all of you for your support!
