Do Something — Day 5

// June 23rd, 2011 // Youth News

Today was started with our daily wake up song!  Revielle gladly woke us up to a full day of serving the Lord.

The obstacle course was again revised due to the extreme weather conditions.  Breakfast was provided by Carolyn Koppendyer and Cheryl Dugan.  We heard Mitch and Andrea tell their life stories at breakfast.  Devotions was focused on Romans 12:9-13.  We had the second day of students leading small group time.  It was Allie and Erick that took on the leader today.

We then left for our worksites.  One group went to Kim Heinen’s house.  There they moved furniture for her as she recovers from her surgery. They also picked rocks Rum River Men’s Group Home. The other group went back to Haijo and Hermina Kiel’s house to paint the side of their house.  Luckily the rain held off for a good day of painting.  After lunch the group came together at Family Pathways Thrift Store to host a FREE car wash.  Despite the colder weather we were able to serve 20 + people at the store.  The best part was seeing our youth step out and talk to those who we served about what we were doing for the week.

Dinner was served by Wayne McMinn, Richard Wergin and Dave Gorham.  They grilled burgers and lots of fixins to go with!  After dinner Karna and Rebecca shared their life stories.  Our first session was about Homosexuality.  We studied at least 15 verses that explained this issue.  Our second session, which we had outside, was about learning how to not conform to the world around us.  We studied verses that taught us how not to conform.  The campfire message was on Yielding to Christ.

God has definitely been working in the lives of our students this week and we are looking forward to seeing how He wraps up our week!!!
