Do Something — Day 3
// June 19th, 2012 // Events
The day started out with a bang! Luckily the storms cleared out before our day began. After a fabulous breakfast we spent time in devotions reading through Romans 8. Today we looked at verses 9-11. After devotions we gathered with our groups and headed out to our job sites once again.
One of the teams continued working on the fence and landscaping a yard. They had a great time working together and getting to know the owners of the home. Dave Gorham was also at this site and was an amazing help and mentor to the students and leader.
Another one of the teams worked on the same house as yesterday. Today they filled in the last of the dirt to protect rain from getting into the basement. They started inside the house doing a new project. They scraped the walls of a basement and started to put a protective paint on the walls to try to stop leaks. They worked hard and had a chance to rely on each other to get the work done.
Finally the last team finished painting for the city of Milaca at Rec Park. They had a good day, and enjoyed seeing how their hard work coming to an end.
Again we enjoyed showers at the homes of our gracious hosts and hostesses! Thanks to all of you for your generosity. After dinner we met with our small groups to discuss what we read for our morning devotions. The evening session focused on our dreams and goals. Our campfire message was led by Geoff and Rachel Bazuin. The focus for the message was based on love and service. Geoff and Rachel gave several examples of how they have served others and have experienced the love of others while serving. They also told of examples of how people have served them and how they experienced God’s love through that service.
