No Ignite Meeting on November 25th

// November 16th, 2009 // No Comments » // Youth News

It has become a new tradition for us to take the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and make it a family night. We cancel our weekly meeting and encourage them to spend time together. Family nights can appear in many different forms and we would encourage you to think creatively about what style of family night fits your family the best.

Here are a few ideas:

Make Dinner Time Fun
Make family nights special by starting off with a great meal. Add some fun to your family meals by playing family dinner games. Games add fun to the family dinner, open up family conversation, breakup the monotony of family dinner, and encourage children to eat their vegetables and drink their milk!

Family Game Night
Games are a great way to bring the family together as well as teach children how to be good winners and losers. Why not try to set aside one night a week or month as family game night.

Family Video and Picture Night
Similar to our dinner and movie night, but rather than watch Hollywood movies, why not spend an evening watching old family videos or leafing through family photos. Kids love to see themselves when they were babies or reminiscing about last years family vacation. Also, don’t forget your wedding video. Kids really get a kick out of watching their parents tie the knot.

Hiking, Biking, and Exploring
How about an adventure into the outdoors? Take advantage of some of the great national parks and hiking trails and spend your day hiking, exploring, and picnicking.

Volunteer Together as a Family
Why not spend your family time helping others in need? Working together as a family to help others in need can be an incredibly powerful way of building family bonds and developing a great sense of pride and fulfillment in all family members. Visit our Family Giving section for great ideas on how to give to others in need.

The Journey

// November 16th, 2009 // No Comments » // Youth News

This series has been really fun! It has been cool to see how God can use teenagers to truly make an impact on their friends, schools, and communities. We have been taking time every week to share our “God Sightings” and I have been really impressed with the stories I have heard coming from our group.

Continue to pray for our youth and the leaders as we continue on this journey.

We will be taking a group of students to Leadership Quest again this summer. This is a week long wilderness retreat designed to develop leaders in our schools and disciples in Christ. This has proven to be a very powerful experience for those who have attended in the past. You can check out the Leadership Quest website for more info. If you are interested in sending your student please send me an e-mail to let me know (It is limited to students going into their junior year and up). Once I get a good idea of who is interested then we can sit down and figure out which week works best.
